Walmart
Welcome Display

The Problem

To improve customer services, Walmart created a 7ft tall three screened welcome display to test in their supercenters, however, they lacked engaging content to properly test a realistic in-store experience. They needed interactive designs to attract customers to the kiosk such as how-to instructions and advertisements from popular products.

  • Focus
  • Design participative advertisments that will invite customers to interact with the welcome display.
  • Timeline
  • ~1 month for exploration and concepts.
  • Role
  • As the UI Designer I was responsible for creating and presenting interactive concepts.
  • Team
  • Project Manager, Account Manager, Creative Director, Art Director, Copy Writer, and Production team.
Mapping the Objective

To create effective advertisements that will attract customers to interact with the welcome display, I thought through the customer and business goals.

Customer Needs

01

Reduce the learning curve

How might we help customers understand how to use it?

02

Improve Product Education

How might we show customers its services and basic functions?

03

Increase Entertainment

How might we show customers that it is more than an advertisement?

Business Goals

01

Increased Interaction

Improve the engagement between customers and the welcome display.

02

Increased Enjoyment

Increase the emotional impact customers have while interacting with it.

03

Improved Onboarding

Improve the time it takes customers to understand the interface.

Creating the Display Ads

I worked with the Starbucks, Pantene, Hidden Valley, Mucinex, and Walmart in-store teams to create interactive advertisements highlighting their newest products. I also created and assisted in animating the navigation and it's many uses. This includes finding products in the store, seeing Rollbacks, as well as current trends.
